The Easiest Way to Get Rid of fruit Flies is to Use the Vacuum!
Did I mention that it is the most fun way as well? Well it is.
Maybe it's the hunter in me but I love sneaking around the corner to where I put my fruit fly bait holding the hose attachment to the vacuum in hand.
Ready. Set. Suck. Fruit flies lift off trying to fly away put the suction is too great. In they go. Oh the humanity!
Ok, seriously. That's what you have to do. Put some bait out that attracts the fruit flies. The best bet is a small bowl of balsamic vinegar. Just set it out in an area that will be left undisturbed for an hour or so.
Sometimes I don't even do that. I just leave my fruit bowl out and let them congregate in there. Anyway, here are some ideas for fruit fly traps.
After a bit of time you will see the fruit flies on or near your bait.
By the way, this needs to be a regular air suction vacuum, not one of the mini handheld vacuums. There needs to be a good suction.
You can put the nozzle attachment on for greater suction power, but I have found that it is not necessary and reduces the amount of area that you can suction up.
Here's the fun part. Turn the vacuum on and put the hose near the fruit fly infestation. Garaunteed to work, you will get 90% of the flies that way.
You will notice that the fruit flies will lift off to try to get away but the powerful suction of your vacuum will suck them right into oblivion.
Don't worry about fruit flies living in your vaccum. But don't ask me what happens to them after they go in. All I know is that they don't survive the trip.
After your first attack, just wait a few minutes and start looking at the corners of your cabinets or doorway entrances. The remaining few flies will be scattered and tend to land on the corner of walls.
Again, take the vacuum and suck em up.
It's load of fun. You won't clean them out totally in one shot. None of the methods do really, so leave your vacuum handy for the next round.
So go ahead, have some fum with your vacuum.

If you don't have a regular air suction vacuum, use one of the other methods.
But you can still have fun killing fruit flies by one of the other fun and efficient ways to kill fruit flies.
